Let us show you why Rocks really Rock!
Starting miles under the surface of the Earth and heading to sandy beaches, we will follow minerals as they are transformed into different types of rocks thanks to the forces of the Earth—Burpee’s exhibit journeys from liquid rocks to the products of quick and slow cooling. Together, we will explore how different minerals create rocks that look wildly different.
Next, transition to the products of weathering from wind to water to ice and more. What happens to weathered rocks? What is on the beach? What is in the dirt? We will explore intermediary forms and head into compaction as well as the effect of life on minerals. In this experience, students will examine the transitions and multiple changes that form the rocks around us. Don’t miss the amazing minerals from the most colorful and beautiful to those that light up under UV light!
