Our Accessible Adventures in Learning program offers experiences for guests of all abilities. Whether you’re joining us for a sensory-friendly experience, or an adaptive hands-on program, Burpee is here to make learning fun, accessible, and inclusive for all!

* Explore animal adaptations through sensory-rich encounters
*Travel back in time to uncover Ice Age giants!
* Experience natural history of ancient fish, taxidermy, and dinosaurs
Backpacking With Burpee
Get outside and explore the Winnebago County Forest Preserves! With Burpee educators as your guide, you will peek under the smallest leaves, logs, and streams to find nature’s wonders! Family and friend groups encouraged!
Guided walks are $7 per person

Animal & Mineral Spotlight
All abilities welcome!
Snakes, Turtles, HUGE Ice Age mammals! These classes will charm you with the beauty of Natural History Collections. Guided by a Burpee Educator, guests engage their senses and curiosity with hands-on activities, creative expression, and storytelling that promote learning, relaxation, and connection.

Discover how animals, humans, and even dinosaurs can survive the cold! Search for food, stay warm, and thrive in winter through hands-on activities and always a LIVE animal encounter. Each week explores a new habitat.

Touch & Hear Natural History
All abilities welcome!
Work with clay as ancestors did, explore natural history sounds, touch ancient waterways, and “dive” into dinosaurs with real touchable fossils!
