Enhance your field trip!
Use clay to make a miniature pot using Native American pottery tools and techniques from the Woodland Native American cultures. Docents will guide your group through the process including sharing multiple samples and real artifacts, background on tools used, and creative opportunities for your group to try their hands at newly learned techniques.
Travel back in time and role play an individual using common tools to construct a small pot. Students will examine artifacts from the museum's education collection, learn about many ways pots were made, and each get their own ball of clay to begin their own work. What would your pot carry? What would be your design?
