Annual Appeal

Thanks to your support, Burpee Museum of Natural History has much to celebrate!

Burpee continues to make great strides in financial stability, scientific research, and new exhibits! This past year, we spread the love of science to over 29,726 in-person and over 60,000 virtual guests! We provided scholarships to youth who could not otherwise afford museum and virtual experiences, launched our first YouTube Live student PaleoFest scientist panel of international paleontologists for ober 1,800 school-age children, opened a collaborative, groundbreaking, and emotional Native American exhibit, and made strides in database maintenance for our research collections!

Our paleontology and biology labs are currently undergoing major renovations which will usher in a new era of science at Burpee Museum. All of this...thanks to YOUR support. What a year!

Burpee's plan today: Remain relevant and viable, and strengthen our community connections. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, Burpee flourished. We utilized mandated shut-down time to revamp exhibits and build new ones. We leveraged a floor to reorganize and update collections.

Yet, we feel the squeeze of difficult times. As a not-for-profit organization, so much of our ability to provide services to the community hinges on the financial assistance of key supporters like you. The gift of scholarship programs, collaboration with local Native American Indian delegations to bring important messages to our community, outreaches to local school groups, and the unparalleled ongoing research thrives only because of your financial support.

During this giving season, please consider the gifts Burpee can give our community all year long thanks to your gift today.

Planning Strategically

With a new 3 year strategic plan in hand, a fantastic and dedicated staff, a guiding vision, a strong Board of Trustees, and a special group of volunteers, Burpee Museum is better equipped to face the next phases of growth and innovative learning than every before. We will continue to thrive in the new year and keep moving forward, spreading science joy!

We ask you to support our operation. Higher gas prices and failing HVAC systems have caused the underlying maintenance and operational costs for a building of our size to continue to rise. While we have written and earned grants to replace failing equipment, governmental delays continue to slow the receipt of these dollars, delaying needed repairs, and thus we must continue to repair our failing infrastructure.

Will you help Burpee thrive? A gift of $550 supports essential staff wages and a more significant gift of over $2,500 helps support daily operational costs that have recently increased, allowing us to continue to share our museum with the community.

Help us help kids belong to something scientific, innovative, and exciting! Working together, we will continue to cultivate awesome learning experiences for all ages. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for supporting our outstanding museum through giving generously to the Annual Appeal!

Respectfully,

Anne F. Weerda, Joshua Mathews, Rhonda Dailing, & Alex Merry
