Connecting Our Future
Two nationally celebrated museums—Burpee Museum of Natural
History and Discovery Center—have entered into a collaboration
to connect people of all ages to new educational experiences. By
supporting the campaign, you will join a dynamic force helping
to draw visitors to Rockford's downtown and establish our community
as a cultural destination.
Become a friend of Burpee Museum and get involved with one of
our most important fundraising events of the year. Significant
donations will be recognized on a special campaign plaque. There
will also be a limited number of new and existing Museum areas
to be named by those making larger gifts.

Making Connections...
At the heart of the missions of both Burpee Museum and Discovery
Center Museum in the concept of "connecting"
- connecting young people to new worlds of science, adventure,
and wonder,
- connecting people of all ages to the natural world that surrounds
them,
- connecting families and friends to fun-filled worlds of growth
and discovery.
What will this mean for Burpee?
Connecting Our Future will provide funds to add 20,000 square
feet of space to Burpee Museum and connect it with Discovery
Center. This addition will increase Burpee's exhibition space
and create more opportunities for collaborative programs between
the museums. Our visions for the space include:
- Traveling Exhibitions Gallery that will be shared with Discovery
Center
- Expanded collections storage and classroom space
- Lunchroom space for the 25,000+ school children that visit
each year
- Riverview Terrace providing an outdoor venue for special
events
