Can’t bring your class or group to the Museum? We can come to you! We offer a wide range of        one-hour outreach programs for your site.

Animal Encounters: Get up close and personal with Burpee’s live animals!
Native Americans: Learn about Natieve American groups from around the country.
Fossils and Dinosaurs: Take a journey through geologic time.
Wonders of Wildlife: Discover animal habitats and adaptations.

Fee: $85/first presentation (up to 30 people), $75/each subsequent presentation, plus mileage reimbursement and travel time.

Can't bring your class to the Museum? Bring the Museum to your class! Teacher boxes are available for pickup at the Museum and most contain items that can be touched.

The charge is $5 for non-members and FREE for members. The boxes and specimens may be kept for one week. To reserve, call the Education Department at 815.965.3433 x1020. You may also want to consider an outreach program

Boxes available: Native Americans (special box available for younger children), Bats, Birds, Bird Eggs, Whitetail Deer, Insects, Trees, Fossils, Dinosaur Teeth and Claws, Minerals, (Oceans, Illinois Emphasis - temporarily unavailable, Fall 2012), and Sensory Awareness

Individual specimens available (encased in acrylic cubes):
Apatosaurus Skull Cast (large, heavy), American Kestrel, Screech Owl, Prairie Chicken, Belted Kingfisher, Great Horned Owl (large, heavy), Songbirds (Robin, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Fox Sparrow in one case), Blandings Turtle

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has partnered with Burpee to offer a convenient pick up/drop off location in downtown Rockford.

There is no charge for teachers in Illinois to borrow these trunks.
